Alpine Global Infrastructure Fund Tops $100 Million in Assets

PURCHASE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Alpine Funds today announced that assets under management in the Alpine Global Infrastructure Fund (AIFRX, AIAFX) have surpassed $100 million. The Fund invests in publicly traded companies throughout the globe that derive their revenue from the ownership, management, construction, development, operations, utilization or financing of infrastructure assets.

"As the search for alternative sources of income in this low yield environment continues, a growing number of investors and advisors are seeking to increase their exposure to the infrastructure sector - an asset class with the potential to deliver a blend of diversification, income, inflation participation and competitive returns," said Josh Duitz, portfolio manager of the Alpine Global Infrastructure Fund. "The deteriorating condition of infrastructure assets in the U.S. coupled with the growth of the emerging market middle class and soaring urban populations worldwide have global infrastructure well positioned to remain an attractive investment opportunity for investors."

Launched in 2008 to help a broader universe of investors and advisors potentially benefit from increased infrastructure spending, the Alpine Global Infrastructure Fund's goal is to invest in companies that are focused on markets with high barriers to entry (potentially monopolies or quasi-monopolies) and have the potential for stable and predictable cash flows.

The Fund is subject to the risk of concentrating investments in infrastructure related companies, which makes it more susceptible to factors adversely affecting issuers within that industry than would a fund investing in a more diversified portfolio of securities. These risks include high interest costs in connection with capital construction programs and the costs associated with environmental and other regulations. The Fund invests in foreign securities which involve political, economic and currency risks, greater volatility and differences in accounting methods. These risks are greater for investments in emerging markets. The Fund's strategy of investing in dividend-paying stocks involves the risk that such stocks may fall out favor with investors and underperform the market. In addition, there is the possibility that such companies could reduce or eliminate the payment of dividends in the future or the anticipated acceleration of dividends could not occur. Medium- and small-capitalization companies tend to have limited liquidity and greater price volatility than large-capitalization companies. The Fund may participate in initial public offerings ("IPOs") or Secondary offerings which may result in a magnified impact on the performance of the Fund. IPO's and Secondary offerings are frequently volatile in price and may increase the turnover of the Fund, which may lead to increased expenses.

All investments involve risk, including loss of principal. Past performance is no guarantee of future results.

Cash flow — measures the cash generating capability of a company by adding non-cash charges (e.g. depreciation) and interest expense to pretax income.
