Securities America Expands Recruiting Team

Adds Three Positions in Response to Growing Advisor Pipeline

LA VISTA, Neb.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- In response to a growing pipeline of financial advisors, Securities America has expanded its Branch Office Development staff, including the addition of National Director of Recruiting John Behn.

"We're seeing increases in advisors at wirehouses and large independent broker-dealers who want more responsive customer service, and advisors at smaller firms who want better technology and help growing their business," said Gregg Johnson, senior vice president of branch office development and acquisitions of Securities America, a subsidiary of Ladenburg Thalmann Financial Services Inc. (NYSE MKT: LTS). "We have a full recruiting pipeline of advisors who tell us either they have outgrown the capabilities of their current broker-dealer, or their current broker-dealer has grown to where it no longer values them and their business. Our recruiting and transition teams welcome these advisors in a way that minimizes the disruption to their business and their clients."

Behn, 44, has 22 years of experience in the insurance and financial services industries in a wide variety of roles. He has been a financial advisor, business owner, national sales manager, senior vice president of strategy and operations, and general agent. Behn brings a strong background in sales, recruiting, advisor development and senior management, having worked for such companies as American Family, New York Life and Transamerica, in addition to owning his own business.

"There is great opportunity available with Securities America," Behn said. "I am honored to work for a positive and genuine Midwest company with an executive leadership team that fully supports the creative efforts and ideas of managers and employees alike."

Other personnel changes for the Branch Office Development team at Securities America include:

  • Sam Briganti, 37, who moved into his new role as a regional director of recruiting, will implement recruiting strategies and communicate Securities America's philosophy with financial professionals seeking to align themselves with a Business Growth Expert. Briganti joined Securities America in 1997 holding various Operations leadership roles before moving to the Transition Department in 2004. Briganti managed the transition team and was promoted to director of transition and Branch Office Development support in 2009. Briganti was named Securities America's Employee of the Year in 2003 and Manager of the Year in 2010.

  • Brian Strasser, 42, the new director of transition and Branch Office Development support, will lead the transition consultants day to day, conduct strategic planning for transitioning offices and meet with new advisors and their staff. Strasser joins Securities America with nearly 20 years of experience in the securities industry, including 10 years with Legent Clearing LLC as vice president and Conversion Department manager, where he led Transition, IT/Product Development, Conversions and Relationship Management.

  • Matthew Witt, 26, joins the Branch Office Development team as an associate consultant, working with prospective advisors to provide a comprehensive yet personalized look at the benefits of partnering with Securities America. Witt joined Securities America in 2012 as a specialist in the Representative Relations Department, where he provided advisors and clients with answers to their in-depth inquiries.
