Google Fiber Names Another City: Gladstone, Mo.

Updated

Following a string of recent, expansion announcements, Google on Monday named Gladstone, Mo., as another city slated to get its super-fast Internet service, Fiber.

The Gladstone City Council voted unanimously on Monday to allow the search giant to offer Fiber to the city. As with the other Fiber sites, no date has been set for when Google Fiber will launch. Google says it will take "a while to plan, engineer, and start building" its network in new communities. The company is building its service by demand, and neighborhoods, what it calls "fiberhoods," of 250 to 1,500 households that meet a pre-registration goal will get Fiber service.

Cities slated to get Google Fiber include Grandview, Mo.; Shawnee, Kan.; Kansas City; Austin, Texas; and Provo, Utah.
