The Seasame Street Market: One of These Things Is Not Like the Other

Updated

I recently caught up with trader and legendary market commentator Art Cashin on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange.Â

In this video, Cashin shares his thoughts about the Dow Jones hitting a new all-time high. Have a look:Â

Arthur Cashin: Well, there are divergences that trouble an old fogey like me who's been doing it 50 years. I look around the globe and see other markets in Europe and other regions giving up. It's interesting to see that only the Dow and S&P making all-time record highs here, and now the Japanese market is on a run because they are frantically adding money. They're basically going to double their money supply in a year. So that gives you pause to say, Wait a minute. It's not quite universal. It doesn't quite fit in. You can study as much as you want. You can do this as long as you want, but it really kind of gets back to Sesame Street. One of these things is not like the other, and if one of these things is not like the other, then you want to start asking questions.
