NTT America's CEO Kazuhiro Gomi to Speak at 2013 MIT Sloan CIO Symposium

Joins Keynote Panel of Distinguished CEOs to Discuss Power, Influence and IT Innovation at Premier Global Event

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- NTT America, a global infrastructure services provider and wholly owned subsidiary of NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com), today announced that its CEO, Kazuhiro Gomi, will join fellow CEOs, CIOs and senior IT executives from around the world as a featured panelist at the tenth annual 2013 MIT Sloan CIO Symposium (www.mitcio.com/agenda) on May 22nd in Cambridge, MA. The MIT Sloan CIO Symposium provides CIOs with high level insight from leading academic research combined with the counsel of successful business leaders on how to operate in today's world of complex and dramatic change.

In his role as CEO, Mr. Gomi is responsible for the direction and leadership of NTT America's mission, strategy, annual goals and objectives, as well as for fostering a culture of success. At the MIT Sloan CIO Symposium, Mr. Gomi will join Akamai's CEO Dr. Tom Leighton and BlazeMeter's CEO Alon Girmonsky in a keynote panel moderated by Redstar Ventures Managing Director, Joe Chung, to share ways in which they have driven change throughout their organizations, worked to retain the original vision and gain buy-in, and have been influenced by their teams to change the vision at times. The panel entitled "The Use of Power and Influence during the Process of Innovation" begins at 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22nd in the MIT Kresge Auditorium.

In addition to leading NTT America as its President, CEO and a member of the Board of Directors, Mr. Gomi is a member of the Board of Directors of NTT Com. He was appointed to the Board of Directors of NTT Com in June 2012 in recognition of his outstanding executive leadership. Just two years after Mr. Gomi's appointment to CEO, NTT America received accolades for broad energy efficiency initiatives and activities undertaken in support of the company's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program. Mr. Gomi will talk about how he uses IT to drive innovation at NTT America, from eco-friendly ways to power and cool data centers to aggressive adoption of SDN to accelerate self-service provision of bandwidth. He will make reference to how NTT Com is architecting the enterprise of the future with the global availability of its groundbreaking SDN-based Enterprise Cloud.

NTT America is the largest overseas affiliate of NTT Com, the leading ICT solution provider and wholly owned subsidiary of NTT. Mr. Gomi will highlight how NTT continuously invests in innovation through research and development to create products and solutions that benefit companies globally and locally. Ranked 29th on the Fortune Global 500 for 2012, NTT, the world's largest global IT and telecommunications services holding company, invests $3.5 billion in research and development annually to support clients, employs 6,000 research and development staff, and earned distinction by Thompson Reuters as a "Top 100 Global Innovator" in 2012. Recently, NTT established the NTT Innovation Institute, Inc. (NTT I3), a new R&D center in San Mateo, California, to accelerate the development and provision of highest-grade information security and cloud computing technologies.

"Now more than ever, the CIO must be nimble and navigate not only the technology playing field, but the entire changing business enterprise," said Kathleen Tetrault, the 2013 MIT Sloan CIO Symposium Chair. "Our speakers will provide direction on embracing change caused by economic, social, political, environmental and technological forces, to lead organizations in an increasing adaptive and upward path."

Nearly 700 CIOs and senior IT executives will be attending the 2013 MIT Sloan CIO Symposium, which will take place Wednesday, May 22, 2013, from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Kresge Auditorium, MIT (77 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA).
