Disney Dances With the Undead

Updated

In a wide-ranging interview with Entertainment Weekly, Marvel Studios President of Production Kevin Feige confirmed that Ghost Rider and Blade, two characters from the darker portions of the comic book king's universe, are back in Walt Disney's hands.

Feige and his team have spent years negotiating the return of Marvel characters lost to unfavorable licensing deals. Seeing the demon-possessed Ghost Rider and vampire hunter Blade join Daredevil -- and earlier, The Punisher -- come back to the fold gives investors hope that Disney will find a way to keep even more of the profits from its Marvel franchises, Tim Beyers of Motley Fool Rule Breakers and Motley Fool Supernova says in the following video.

Audiences have been craving darker content for a while. Look at the success of The Walking Dead over at AMC Networks . While it's unlikely we'll see Marvel make a full-scale horror movie, no one will be surprised if Disney's front-office profit seekers push the boundaries of the PG-13 rating in bringing its undead stars back to life on the Big Screen, Tim says.
