JetBlue Reports April Metrics

JetBlue had a pretty good April. The company has released its metrics for the month, and for the most part they're up on a year-over-year basis. Revenue passenger miles climbed skyward by nearly 5% over April 2012's number to reach just under 3 billion. Available seat miles advanced to 3.58 billion, which was 6.5% higher than in the year-ago period.

The total number of revenue passengers also grew, increasing 3.1% on a year-over-year basis to 2.55 million. However, those passengers were on flights that were slightly emptier on a comparative basis -- JetBlue's load factor (i.e., the average "occupancy" of its planes) was 83.7% this past April, a drop from the 85.2% recorded in the same month of 2012.
