Huawei's Windows Phone 8 W1 Coming to Wal-Mart

U.S. consumers will be able to purchase the first Huawei smartphone running Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 operating system later this month from Wal-Mart .

Microsoft said in a blog post today that the new Huawei W1 smartphone will be available for purchase in Wal-Mart online and retail stores. The W1 will be available in black and has the following features:

  • 4-inch 480x800 LCD display with Gorilla Glass

  • Dual-core 1.2 GHz Snapdragon processor

  • 5MP rear-facing camera with 720p video recording

  • 1.7 GB of usable internal storage (expandable to 32GB)

  • 320 hours of standby time

Huawei said on its website that, "Now it's possible to have an affordable Windows Phone on an unlimited 30-day no-contract plan." The pricing for the phone has yet to be announced.


Michael Chuang, executive vice president of Huawei Device USA, said in a statement, "The Huawei W1 brings consumers a truly compelling alternative to what's currently in the marketplace."
