Boeing Takes 3 of 10 Pentagon Contracts Awarded Thursday

It was a slow day at the Pentagon Thursday, but not everyone's complaining.

The Department of Defense awarded a total of 10 separate contracts today and, believe it or not, one single company -- Boeing -- took home three of them:

  • An $18.3 million cost-plus-fixed-fee delivery order for supplies and services needed to test and evaluate the serviceability of Navy F/A-18E/F and EA-18G warplanes. This contract runs through February 2014.

  • A $6.9 million modification to a previously awarded firm-fixed-price contract to buy aircraft armament equipment for Boeing F/A-18E/F and EA-18G warplanes, including SUU-78A/A Pylons and well covers. Pylons are the suspension devices on an airplane's wings, to which weapons are attached. Well covers are ... well, covers that cover up a plane's wheel wells. This contract should be completed by January 2016.

  • And finally, an $8.5 million delivery order under a previously awarded indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity, cost-plus-fixed- fee foreign military sales contract to upgrade Japanese Air Self Defense Force AWACS mission computers and other electronics. Work on this contract should be complete by Dec. 31, 2014.
