Procter & Gamble Debuts Maria Shriver's Tribute to Her Mother, Special Olympics Founder Eunice Kennedy Shriver, in "The Gift My Mother Gave Me" Digital Video

P&G encourages families across the U.S. to watch and share the video to support Special Olympics

CINCINNATI--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Procter & Gamble (NYS: PG) , proud partner of Special Olympics for thirty-three years, and the Proud Sponsor of Moms, premiered today "The Gift My Mother Gave Me," a digital video featuring Maria Shriver honoring her mother, the late Eunice Kennedy Shriver, who founded Special Olympics in 1968. In addition to being a moving tribute to Maria's remarkable mother, the video will also help raise funds for Special Olympics. For every share of the video from P&G's Thank you, Mom Facebook page (www.facebook.com/thankyoumom) during the month of May, P&G will donate $1 to support Special Olympics programs and services, up to $50,000.

"It was a honor to celebrate my mother's life through this video and share the unique gifts she gave me, while, at the same time, giving people an opportunity to support Special Olympics, the world-changing organization she mothered alongside her five children," said Shriver. "The gift my mother gave me was the gift of possibility. From an early age, she instilled in me a belief that I could do anything I wanted to do. She was my greatest champion. It wasn't a matter of, 'Can I?' or 'Should I?' It was just, 'You can, you must, you will!'"

Maria Shriver, mother of four, award-winning journalist and producer, and six-time New York Times best-selling author, has been a lifelong advocate for people with intellectual disabilities, serving as a member of the International Board of Special Olympics.

"At P&G, our mission is to touch and improve lives and support moms through our Thank you, Mom program," said Jodi Allen, Vice President of North America Operations and Marketing at P&G, and proud mom of four. "P&G's partnership with Special Olympics is one of the longest continuous cause marketing relationships in the United States. We are thrilled to be partnering with Maria Shriver to honor not only her mom and the courageous moms of Special Olympics athletes, but all moms across the country."
