Pandora Increases Active Listeners by 35%

Updated

Internet radio provider Pandora had 70.1 million "active listeners" at the end of April, an increase of 35% from the previous year, the company announced today.

Additionally, total listener hours during April jumped 24%, from 1.06 billion last April to 1.31 billion this April, and its share of U.S. radio listening in the month was 7.33%, up from last April's 5.95%.

In March, Pandora initiated a 40-hour listening limit on its mobile application to protect the company's monetization efforts and keep up with rising costs of royalties. Pandora said it uses the 40-hour limit to maintain audience growth while slowing listener hour growth. The company said April's metrics are well in line with business expectations.
