HollyFrontier Misses on Both Revenue and Earnings

HollyFrontier (NYS: HFC) reported earnings on May 7. Here are the numbers you need to know.

EPS came in at $1.63. The 17 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ anticipated $1.75 per share. GAAP EPS of $1.63 for Q1 were 41% higher than the prior-year quarter's $1.16 per share.

Margin details
For the quarter, gross margin was 13.8%, 360 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 11.7%, 320 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 7.1%, 220 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. (Margins calculated in GAAP terms.)

Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $5.03 billion. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $1.91.
