Books-A-Million Begins Coffee for the Troops Campaign to Benefit Deployed Troops Serving Overseas

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Books-A-Million, Inc. (Nasdaq/NM: BAMM) announced today that they are currently accepting Joe Muggs coffee donations for their Coffee for the Troops campaign that will benefit troops serving overseas in hopes to give troops a little taste of home. The campaign will run through May 18th to ensure that the troops receive the coffee in time for Independence Day. Last year, BAM accepted donations totaling nearly 19,000 bags of Joe Muggs coffee to send to troops serving overseas for their Holiday campaign.

"With the overwhelming response and generosity from our customers and through Soldiers' Angels, we were able to almost double our expectations of donated coffee for the Holidays," said Jeff Skipper, Vice President of Marketing of Books-A-Million. "We hope that we are able to accomplish the same for the troops this year."

BAM customers bought bags of coffee and wrote messages to soldiers on the bags. The coffee was shipped to deployed troops in Kuwait and Afghanistan, and at the end of the campaign, a total of 22,777 bags of Joe Muggs coffee were donated.

Soldiers' Angels was started by the mother of two soldiers, Patti Patton-Bader, who learned that some soldiers in her sons' deployed units did not receive any mail or support from home. Ms. Bader quickly contacted friends and extended family and within a few months, Soldiers' Angels went from a mother sending a few packages and letters to an online community with thousands of Angels worldwide. Soldiers' Angels currently supports tens of thousands of American military personnel around the world and here at home. During the holidays, Soldiers' Angels sends out more than 30,000 care packages to troops across the world.

"It's companies like Books-A-Million, who stand with our troops, that make the difference and help bring the morale of the troops up and let them know we believe in them," said Patti Patton-Bader, President and CEO of Soldiers' Angels.

You can purchase and donate bags of Joe Muggs Coffee for the Troops anytime between now and May 18th at any Joe Muggs Café located inside Books-A-Million stores across the country.
