Covidien Appoints Jacqueline Strayer Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications

DUBLIN--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Covidien (NYS: COV) , a leading global provider of healthcare products, today announced the appointment of Jacqueline Strayer as Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications, effective immediately. She will report to José E. Almeida, Chairman, President and CEO and be located in Mansfield, MA.

In this role, Strayer will be responsible for leading Covidien's global communications strategies. This encompasses both internal and external communications initiatives worldwide, including corporate marketing, public relations, media relations, financial communications, crisis communications, issues management, philanthropy and the company's digital presence.

She joins Covidien from Johnson Controls where she served as Vice President, Corporate Communications and was an elected officer of the company. Her responsibilities included media relations, internal communications, branding, advertising, digital and social media for this global industrial company.

Before joining Johnson Controls, Strayer was Vice President, Corporate Communications for Arrow Electronics, Inc., where she established the communications function for this Fortune 200 company. Prior to that, she held communication leadership positions at United Technologies, GE Capital Corporation and William M. Mercer.

Throughout her career, she has been recognized for her role in developing communications and public affairs programs. Active in the community, Strayer has served on the board of numerous organizations including Milwaukee Film, where she co-chaired the Film Industry committee, the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, WLIW/WNET, and she chaired Connecticut Public Broadcasting. She is a member of the Arthur Page Society, The Seminar and the Communication Strategy Council of the Conference Board.

She received a Bachelor of Arts in political science and economics from the University of Connecticut and a Master of Professional Studies from New York University, Tisch School of the Arts, Graduate Division of Film and Television.
