TripAdvisor Acquires Cruise Assets

Updated

TripAdvisor is boosting its sea travel offerings with a new acquisition. The company announced it has acquired "key technology and talent" from privately held CruiseWise, a sea vacation booking site. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

TripAdvisor said that the CruiseWise team, and the company's non-transactional functionality, would be absorbed into Cruise Critic. This is a unit TripAdvisor acquired with its purchase of The Independent Traveler in 2007.

The CruiseWise buy is the latest in a string of acquisitions for the online travel operator. Less than a month ago, it announced it purchased high-end booking site jetsetter.com.
