Boeing's Order Book Shrinks

Updated

Boeing released its latest report on airplane orders received -- and canceled -- in the first four months of 2013 Thursday.

To date, the aerospace giant has booked:

  • 206 "gross" orders for various flavors of its 737 regional airliner

  • Three 747 orders

  • 20 for the 777 airliner

  • And 42 orders for its bedeviled 787 Dreamliner.

From this total, Boeing subtracted three 737s, five 747s, and eight 777s for customer cancellations, resulting in a net of 255 commercial airplanes ordered year to date. The five 747s were canceled over just the past month; the others, in preceding months.

Boeing shares climbed 1.1% regardless, closing at $92.21 on Thursday.
