NextEra Energy (NYS: NEE) reported earnings on April 30. Here are the numbers you need to know.

EPS came in at $1.12. The 18 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ predicted $1.02 per share. Non-GAAP EPS of $1.12 for Q1 were 9.8% higher than the prior-year quarter's $1.02 per share. GAAP EPS of $0.64 for Q1 were 42% lower than the prior-year quarter's $1.11 per share.

Margin details
For the quarter, gross margin was 44.5%, 260 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 22.4%, 260 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 8.3%, 540 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. (Margins calculated in GAAP terms.)
