DISH Gets a Little Closer to a Sprint Deal

Updated

SoftBank, the Japanese telecom that signed an agreement last fall to buy Sprint Nextel , has given Sprint a waiver allowing it to talk with its other suitor, DISH Network .

The waiver only allows Sprint to get clarifying information about DISH's proposed buyout, and it specifically states that Sprint cannot enter into negotiations with the satellite pay-TV provider. It also forbids Sprint from disclosing any non-public information about its deal with SoftBank.

However, SoftBank allowing Sprint to determine whether or not DISH's offer would be one superior to that offered by SoftBank is certainly a tiny step toward DISH fulfilling its mobile carrier ambitions. Fool contributor Dan Radovsky explains it all in the video below.
