MELVILLE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- To mark Arbor Day 2013 and demonstrate its commitment and contribution to the environment, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, announced that it will continue to help the Arbor Day Foundation rebuild forests; has had an employee appointed to serve on the Advisory Council of EPEAT®, the global rating system for greener electronics; and will host a free webinar on Friday, April 26 to help businesses of all sizes learn how to reduce the environmental impact of their office document systems.
Canon Forest Program
In connection with its continued sponsorship of the Arbor Day Foundation, Canon will help contribute to the planting of one tree for every eligible imageRUNNER ADVANCE multifunction system sold from April 1, 2013 to December 31, 2013, up to a maximum of 50,000 trees.
The Canon Forest Program was created in 2009 to aid the Arbor Day Foundation's replanting initiatives across the United States and help the Foundation rebuild forest areas that are in desperate need of regrowth. To date, more than 200,000 trees have been planted in honor of Canon's customers in locations such as Florida's John Bethea State Forest and Blackwater State Forest, South Carolina's Manchester State Forest, and Wisconsin's Bayfield County Forest.

EPEAT Advisory Council
Earlier this year Canon was among the first manufacturers with qualifying products in the new imaging equipment category of EPEAT, the global rating system for greener electronics. Governments, businesses and individuals worldwide can use EPEAT to assist them in choosing devices that can help reduce their environmental impact. Canon is proud to announce that Mario Rufino, Manager of Environmental Management and Product Safety at Canon U.S.A., has been appointed to serve on the EPEAT Advisory Council, a non-fiduciary body formed to provide input and advice to EPEAT management. Canon is one of only three manufacturers currently represented on the EPEAT Advisory Council.
Webinar: Canon Advanced Solutions for the Environment
On Friday, April 26 at 2 p.m. ET Canon will host a free webinar, "Canon Advanced Solutions for the Environment," in which participants will be given tips on how to reduce the environmental impact of their office document systems. Canon presenters will be joined by a representative from Buyers Laboratory LLC who will offer insights into this important topic and discuss their findings, which led to Canon's line of multifunction products featuring imageRUNNER and imageRUNNER ADVANCE models being named by the independent testing lab as the 2013 Line of the Year for Energy Efficiency.
