Agnico-Eagle Mines Misses Where it Counts

EPS came in at $0.31. The 19 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ averaged $0.32 per share. Non-GAAP EPS of $0.31 for Q1 were 47% lower than the prior-year quarter's $0.59 per share. GAAP EPS of $0.14 for Q1 were 70% lower than the prior-year quarter's $0.46 per share.

For the quarter, gross margin was 45.6%, 890 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 18.2%, much worse than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 5.6%, much worse than the prior-year quarter. (Margins calculated in GAAP terms.)
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $413.5 million. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $0.31.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $1.80 billion. The average EPS estimate is $1.53.
