"John's extensive experience and high level of expertise will be instrumental as he looks to build upon the outstanding performance of our claims organization and confront many of the company's most complex challenges," Elliot said. "Under John's leadership, I am confident our claims team will be a differentiator for The Hartford and continue to provide customers with high-quality, compassionate service."

Prior to joining The Hartford, Kinney held various legal positions in The Travelers Companies' Special Liability Group, where he focused on the management of asbestos litigation. Kinney holds a B.A. in political science from Fairfield University and a J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law.

The Hartford's property and casualty claims team handles more than 1 million new auto, general liability, workers' compensation, and property claims per year.
