On the plus side, Toyota's redesigned Camry is selling well and contributing to improved margins. Consumer Reports rates Toyota No. 1 in quality, and the stock is up 32% through third quarter 2012. On the other hand, the huge Chinese auto market faces headwinds as Japan and China squabble over islands in the South China Sea. The company is not cheap at the moment. However, while Toyota may not be a value investment, it also enjoys limited downside potential and could prove profitable over the long haul.
