Alibaba Expands Daily Deals to Hong Kong, Taiwan

Updated

In a move to expand its global reach, Alibaba has launched a Hong Kong and Taiwan version of its group-buying website, Juhuasuan.

Juhuasuan Overseas will feature 12 to 20 new deals each day offering discounts on items such as clothing, housewares, and consumer electronics. The company says purchases will be delivered in as little as two days after the deal ends.

In a few weeks, the Chinese-language website will start offering "lifestyle services" and travel deals tailored for Hong Kong. The deals will include hotel and travel packages for nearby cities of Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and Zhuhai.

In the past, Juhuasuan was unable to offer deals to Hong Kong and Taiwan consumers because cross-border shipping was not supported by the mainland China website, according to Alibaba. Now customers in Hong Kong and Taiwan will have access to deals on products and services available across Alibaba-owned Taobao Marketplace.
