LinkedIn Adds New Mention Feature

Updated

On its blog this morning, LinkedIn (NYS: LNKD) announced that its users can now mention their connections and companies within their LinkedIn conversations.

The new feature allows LinkedIn members to be mentioned in status updates or comments on the website and sends a notification to the person who was mentioned in the status. It also integrates with Twitter, and will display the person's Twitter handle within tweets when they're mentioned on the LinkedIn site.

"We also know you're engaging in meaningful conversations across other areas of LinkedIn, so look for the ability to mention your colleagues beyond the Homepage in the near future," the company said. The new feature is available today for English-speaking members and will bring mentions to global users "soon."
