Staples, Inc. Nominates Raul Vazquez to Board of Directors

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Staples, Inc. (NAS: SPLS) , the world's largest office products company and second largest internet retailer, today announced that Raul Vazquez, Chief Executive Officer and Director of Progreso Financiero, has been nominated for election to the company's Board of Directors. The election of Directors will take place at the company's Annual Meeting, scheduled for June 3, 2013.

He is a multi-channel veteran with deep digital expertise and leadership experience in retail, marketing and operations. Vazquez joined Progreso Financiero, a financial services company serving the needs of the growing Hispanic market, in 2012. Prior to that, he held executive roles with Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. and served as Chief Executive Officer of Walmart.com, where he oversaw day-to-day operations and drove a strategy to bring greater value and convenience to customers with a seamless multi-channel approach.
