Humana Offers Free Book, "Trash Cancer For Dummies®," and Invites Readers to Join Online Community at mywell-being.com

LOUISVILLE, Ky.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Humana Inc. (NYS: HUM) , one of the nation's leading health and well-being companies, recently announced the release of Trash Cancer For Dummies, the fourth book to result from the partnership between Humana's MyWell-Being and the For Dummies® book series.

Trash Cancer For Dummies is based on Fran Drescher's Cancer Schmancer Movement, which seeks to transform those with cancer from patients into medical consumers, and to shift the nation's priority from exclusively searching for a cancer cure toward prevention and early detection of the disease.

"We are very excited for the release of our fourth book in partnership with the For Dummies series," said Bruce Feinstein, Marketing Director at Humana. "This book really shows how making simple lifestyle changes can affect overall health and well-being."

The book features tips and advice from Fran Drescher and outlines ways to prevent cancer and avoid certain risk factors.

"Our home is the place where we spend the most time and is often our most toxic environment. Understanding the dangers and being educated is the first step to living an empowered lifestyle," said Drescher, President of Cancer Schmancer. "Going to the market and shopping for everyday items will never be the same as consumers become more educated and begin to think differently about the food, personal care items and household products they're bringing into their homes."

Some important topics addressed in the book include:

  • Nutrition basics and simple cancer-fighting recipes

  • Ways to protect your skin against the thousands of chemicals it is exposed to on a regular basis

  • How to choose green housecleaning products that will ensure the safety and health of one of the most toxic places: the home

  • Simple, everyday habits that are proven to reduce the risk of cancer and ways to break bad habits in order to live a healthier lifestyle

By registering and becoming a member of mywell-being.com, people can choose to receive Trash Cancer For Dummies or one of Humana's other three books for free sent to their home. The other books include: Well-Being For Dummies®, Retirement For Dummies® and Living the Boomer Life For Dummies®.

The award winning MyWell-Being has over 600,000 registrants and now holds a presence on four social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and YouTube.
