Avenue Stores Selects Demandware to Support Omni-Channel Commerce Growth

Increased control and faster time-to-market drives decision to move digital strategy into the cloud

BURLINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Demandware®, Inc. (NYS: DWRE) , the industry-leading provider of enterprise cloud commerce solutions, today announced that Avenue Stores®, a specialty retailer of affordable fashion for real sized women, has selected the Demandware Commerce platform to support its omni-channel vision. Avenue Stores signed with Demandware in the first quarter of 2013.

Avenue Stores operates 294 retail stores across the United States as well as the e-commerce site, Avenue.com, that caters to plus-sized women between the ages of 35 and 55. The retailer needed a scalable and comprehensive digital commerce platform to realize its omni-channel vision. After evaluating other solutions, Avenue Stores was confident that Demandware's cloud platform provides the best capabilities, merchandising control and total cost of ownership. In addition to web, the company will leverage Demandware's responsive web design capabilities to easily optimize its sites for mobile and tablet commerce, and will explore opportunities to integrate digital into its brick-and-mortar stores.

"Digital commerce is an increasingly strategic growth vehicle for Avenue Stores and we believe Demandware's cloud platform will enable us to effectively execute our omni-channel vision. Demandware's robust applications will also provide us with more control over our marketing and merchandising activities to enable us to change the branded experience as quickly as consumer expectations evolve," said Julie Daly, President, Avenue Direct.

"Avenue Stores fully understands the importance of the online channel as a key contributor to its long-term growth, particularly in today's dramatically changing retail environment. We view our clients as strategic partners and look forward to working with Avenue Stores as they execute their digital commerce growth strategy," said Jeffrey Barnett, Chief Operating Officer, Demandware.

Avenue Stores is working with Demandware LINK Solution Partner, Astound Commerce, for site development and system integration.
