HALIFAX, Nova Scotia--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Brigus Gold Corp. ("Brigus" or the "Company") (NYSE MKT: BRD; TSX: BRD) is pleased to report additional drilling results from its ongoing drill program at the 147 and Contact zones, including high grade gold intercepts of 5.2 grams per tonne (gpt) over 34.85 metres from the 147 Zone and 10.6 grams per tonne over 14.00 metres from the Contact Zone.

"These high grade drill results are more evidence of the rich ore body at Grey Fox," said Howard Bird, Sr. Vice President of Exploration. "We are confident that the exploration results from both the 147 and Contact zones will significantly increase the Company's total gold resource."

Today's drill holes will add to the resource estimate released in September 2012 that reported 480,850 Indicated ounces and 91,061 Inferred ounces for the 147 and Contact zones. Approximately 84 percent of the drill data used to compile the September 2012 resource estimate was within 200 m of surface demonstrating excellent open pit mining potential.

Brigus' 2013 Grey Fox drilling program is designed to extend and expand both the 147 and Contact zones through systematic drilling along strike and below the 200m level. Brigus currently has four drill rigs turning to build a resource suitable for underground mining. An updated reserve report on the Grey Fox property will be issued this quarter and will include approximately 40,000 meters of drilling.

The core area of the 147 Zone extends for approximately 250 metres in a north‐south direction dipping at approximately 80 degrees to the east. Gold mineralization primarily occurs within multiple quartz carbonate brecciated zones within bleached units of variolitic mafic volcanics and other parallel footwall zones. Targeted drilling has intersected the 147 Zone at a vertical depth of approximately 380 m below surface with recently reported drill hole GF12-639 intersecting 5.35 grams per tonne gold over 11 metres. The 147 Zone remains open for further expansion.

The Contact Zone gold mineralization lies within approximately 450 metres of strike length and mineralization remains open along strike to the north and down dip. The Contact Zone consists of a steeply dipping mineralized fault contact between the north-south trending metasediments and mafic volcanic rocks, and includes parallel foot wall and hanging wall gold mineralized zones.

Details of the most recent 147 and Contact zones drill holes, along with drill hole location and long section maps can be found on the Company's website at www.brigusgold.com.

Surface drilling was conducted by Norex Drilling and was supervised by the Brigus exploration team. All sample analyses reported herein were performed by Polymet Labs of Cobalt, Ontario, which is ISO 9001:2000 certified in North America using standard fire assay procedures. Intercepts cited do not necessarily represent true widths, unless otherwise noted. Brigus Gold's quality control checks include insertion of blanks, standards and duplicates to ensure laboratory accuracy. Senior Exploration Project Manager John A. Dixon, P. Geo., reviewed the technical exploration information in this release as the Qualified Person for the Company.
