Dungeon Hearts brings battles to match-three play on iPad

If you're into the match-three battle gameplay of titles like 10 Million, and want something else to try on your iPad, Cube Roots and Devolver Digital have just released the next game that will likely steal away all of your free time: Dungeon Hearts.

Dungeon Hearts sees players working to make matches of three or more like-colored discs by dragging them around the "Fatestream." At first glance, the game resembles a side-scrolling rhythm game, as the Fatestream is constantly moving, and there's one line for each of your four combatants. However, these four lines simply serve as a pathway for you to drag around discs to make matches and destroy the opposition.

By creating matches, players create attack diamonds that can be clicked on to destroy other discs, including enemy attack discs or symbols, on the Fatestream, thereby doing damage to their opponents and stopping their opponents from attacking back.

"The term 'unique' is probably the most overused word in marketing copy for games, so Dungeon Hearts was a challenge to myself to create something that actually lived up to the word," said Cube Roots founder Chris Pavia, via a company release.

From our short time with the game, we'd definitely say that Pavia has created a "unique" game, that can offer legitimate challenge to even those players that might consider themselves "experts" of the match-three genre.
