Frankly, Candy Crush Saga has been crushing it on all counts. King's super successful match-3 game has rocked the AppData charts for months after its release on Facebook and, more importantly in this case, later on mobile. At the tail end of the Game Developer Conference (GDC) in San Francisco during the ninth annual International Mobile Game Awards (IMGA), Candy Crush Saga received the "Best Social Game" award.

After playing King's pride and joy quite a bit on the iPad, it's clear that the IMGA judges didn't grant Candy Crush Saga the award purely due to its reach. While it might be derivative of match-3 games of yore, Candy Crush Saga is one of the most polished and entertaining to date with some interesting social hooks to boot. Plus, we can confidently say King deserves an award for the best voice work in a match-3 game to date--sweet.

"The team has put a lot of effort into the production of Candy Crush Saga and it's this type of growth and recognition that shows us our hard work has paid off," King Games Guru Tommy Palm said in a statement. "This serves as an inspiration for us to continue making our games better and better as we've really just emerged as a cross-platform games company and have many more great mobile and social games ahead of us."
