TRADE NEWS: Agilent Technologies' ICP-QQQ Named Best New Spectroscopy Product by Group of International Scientists

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYS: A) today announced that its 8800 Triple Quadrupole ICP-MS (8800 ICP-QQQ) has been named Best New Spectroscopy Product in the 2012 Scientists' Choice Awards. Introduced early last year, the 8800 ICP-QQQ is the only instrument of its kind, providing superior performance, sensitivity and flexibility compared with single quadrupole ICP-MS technology, and delivering consistent and reliable results even when sample composition is complex or variable.

SelectScience, an independent, member-based online publication serving scientists and industry professionals, presented the award to Agilent representatives last week at the Pittcon Conference and Expo in Philadelphia. The annual Scientists' Choice Awards give SelectScience members the opportunity to vote for their favorite products and services.

"Every year, the Scientists' Choice Awards celebrate the new laboratory products and equipment making a real and meaningful difference in the work of scientists who serve a variety of industries," said Kerry Parker, editor and general manager of SelectScience.

In 2010, the Agilent 1220 Infinity LC system received the award for Best New Separations Product. In 2009, the Agilent 6430 Triple Quadrupole LC/MS system was voted Best New Spectroscopy Product.

"We are very pleased to learn that scientists from all over the world are experiencing the benefits of this revolutionary new ICP-MS instrument," said Philip Binns, Agilent vice president for spectroscopy products. "The 8800 provides improved performance and flexibility in a variety of important applications, including semiconductor manufacturing, advanced materials, clinical and life sciences, and a wide range of research and routine applications where problematic interferences can hamper the capabilities of conventional ICP-MS technologies."

The Agilent 8800 ICP-QQQ is the flagship product in the company's portfolio of ICP-MS hardware/software solutions, which includes the Agilent 7700 Series ICP-MS, the benchmark for high-performance quadrupole ICP.

The unique configuration of the Agilent 8800 ICP-QQQ enables unsurpassed flexibility, including MS/MS operation, providing precise control of reaction processes in the ORS3 collision/reaction cell. MS/MS mode controls the ions that can enter the cell, delivering consistent and reliable results even when the sample composition is complex or variable. The instrument provides higher levels of sensitivity and lower backgrounds as well as improved performance over any ICP-MS instrumentation today.
