Facebook Adds Games Section to User Timelines

Updated

Social networker Facebook is now beginning to add a Games section to user Timelines within the About page. The addition is part of a broader initiative to improve Timelines that was announced earlier this month. Facebook said there would be no additional changes required from developers for their games to appear on profile pages.

The goal is to promote game usage on Facebook's platform by showing which games are popular among users. Facebook grew payments revenue, which is primarily from games, by 45% last year, to $810 million. That segment comprised 16% of total revenue.

Facebook said that social games that have been played within the last 30 days will appear in the new section.
