Developer PopCap Games broke the news through Inside Social Games during the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. (PopCap also confirmed an early summer 2013 release for PvZ 2. )

Slated for a limited beta test soon with a wider public launch this spring, PvZ Adventures sees players defend a motor home from an onslaught of the undead across numerous "Road Trip" missions in different settings. These include a post-apocalyptic city, a chasm called "Dire Spires" and more, according to ISG.

Judging from early screen shots, PvZ Adventures looks like a more traditional tower defense game with an isometric perspective. To that end, ISG reports that the Facebook game will feature a town building element, like any successful Facebook game should. More important, however, is that PvZ Adventures will introduce new plants--like the melee-fighting Beet and the Aspearagus--and zombies, such as the Mad Hatter, an armored corpse wielding numerous hats.

According to ISG, the game has been in development for over a year--a long time for a social game even in 2013--and boasts interesting social hooks, like the ability to send zombie attacks to your friends' towns. For a deeper look at PvZ Adventures, read more on ISG.
