Oracle Introduces New Servers

Oracle has unveiled a set of five new servers. These products replace their predecessors in what the company terms a "complete refresh" of its mid-range and high-end server lines.

Of the five offerings, four are in the mid-range T5 category, while one lands in the upper-echelon M5 designation. All run on the company's Solaris operating system and are powered by the SPARC T5, which according to Oracle is the world's fastest microprocessor.

The company said the new T5 servers have broken 17 world records. It added that the T5-8 model is the fastest server available for the company's flagship Database software solution. Oracle also claims that the new M5-32 "delivers a 2.5x cost advantage" over a comparable solution from IBM.
