Intuit Says TurboTax Online Sales Grew Nearly 30%

Updated

Intuit's sales of its popular TurboTax Online software climbed 29% on a year-over-year basis in the Jan. 30-March 16 period. According to the company's figures, that version of the storied tax preparation product totaled nearly 12.7 million units, more than double that of its more traditional TurboTax Desktop solution. The year-over-year growth rate for the latter, meanwhile, came in at 15%.

This year, Intuit is measuring the seasonality of its products from Jan. 30 because that's when the Internal Revenue Service opened its e-file online submission service for this tax year.

Intuit will provide a final update of its tax season sales at the end of April.
