Zynga (Almost) Unfriends Facebook

Updated

Starting next week, Zynga will no longer require gamers to log-in with a Facebook account. In addition, the company will streamline the sign-up process to let new users create their own account so that they can access all Zynga's games.

Current Zynga gamers won't have to start their games from scratch. Each will have the option to connect with Facebook and keep their game friends and progress in tact. They will also be able to specify what they choose to share with Zynga's gaming community.

Initially built to innovate on new features and increasing player interaction, the namesake website has helped Zynga implement real-time multiplayer and live Social Stream, which helps a user tap into a community of players to help with one's game progress. Next week, the company also plans to make available a few new games on the new site.
