Validity Selected as Strategic Supplier in Support of Lenovo Four Screen Cloud Strategy

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Today Validity Sensors, Inc., the leader in Natural ID™ authentication fingerprint sensors, announces that Lenovo, the $30 billion global personal technology company, and one of the top two PC makers globally, has selected Validity as a strategic supplier of fingerprint sensors for Lenovo consumer and enterprise-class notebooks and peripherals.

"This collaboration allows us to provide the user with a consistent and secure authentication experience across our portfolio of products and services," said Jerry Gross, vice president, Lenovo Global Procurement. "Validity Natural ID sensors provide an easy-to-use way to securely access the cloud with the simple touch of a finger."

As two of the founding members of the FIDO Alliance (Fast IDentity Online), Validity and Lenovo have worked together to develop technical specifications that define an open, scalable, interoperable set of mechanisms that reduce the reliance on passwords for authenticating users of online services.

"Lenovo shares our vision of advanced usability and security for all connected devices," said Michael Maia, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, at Validity Sensors. "As pioneers in the use of fingerprint authentication, Lenovo's adoption of Natural ID™ across a wider range of products plus their innovation focus paves the way for advances in user experience and security across all four screens (handset, tablet, PC, and television) as device and digital consumption continue to grow sharply."

Validity Natural ID makes the fingerprint the key to one's digital identity, simplifying device login, securing purchases and online transactions, and enhancing privacy on all of a user's personal and shared devices. Validity's products enable solutions ranging from invisible, under-glass sensors for smartphones; buttons for handsets and tablets; and the world's thinnest palm-rest designs for Ultrabook™ computers.

The first Lenovo devices featuring Validity Natural ID fingerprint sensors are Lenovo Edge-brand 14" and 15" ThinkPad Edge small-business laptops coming to market this month. More information can be found at www.lenovo.com.
