Toyota Recalls 209,000 FJ Cruiser SUVs

Toyota has launched a recall of its FJ Cruiser, spanning the model years 2007-2013. The company said that there was a risk that the seatbelt retractors for the driver and front passenger positions might become detached in the vehicle. Toyota said that this was because cracks could potentially develop around the lower seatbelt retractor anchor if the rear door was closed "repeatedly and forcefully." The retractor assemblies are mounted in the rear doors of the vehicle.

The recall covers around 209,000 FJ Cruisers in the U.S. Toyota said it would mail notification letters to owners of those vehicles, and the company would effect the recall free of charge.

Toyota said that no accidents or injuries have been reported for this situation.
