Saks Fifth Avenue to Augment Designer Assortment and Double Size of New Sarasota Store
Opening is scheduled for fall 2014
SARASOTA, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Saks Fifth Avenue is pleased to reveal exciting details about the previously announced opening of a new two-level, 80,000 square foot store in The Mall at University Town Center in Sarasota, Florida, which is presently under construction at the intersection of I-75 and University Parkway. The Mall at University Town Center is being co-developed by Taubman Centers and Benderson Development and is scheduled to open October 16, 2014.
The new location will double the size of the existing store, providing Sarasota with an unprecedented assortment of designer offerings. Topping these offerings will be the local premier of Saks Fifth Avenue's signature women's shoe boutique, 10022-SHOE, which will immediately boast the area's largest curated luxury shoe offering. In addition, the location will feature a new and unique men's area, an expanded space for the Saks Fifth Avenue Men's Collection, and an exclusive in-house restaurant.

Conceived by the Saks Fifth Avenue design team in partnership with design firm Jensen and Goldstein, the new property will feature several breathtaking innovations. The hallmarks are a skillful blend of glass, stone, mosaic tiles, hand-distressed dutch wood and artisanal walls. Tantalizing exteriors will include a living "green" wall, decorative metal screens and a grand porte-cochère equipped for sheltered valet parking. Work from nationally and locally recognized artists will infuse the interior with a curated mix of highly coveted found furnishings, such as hand-knotted silk and wool Tibetan rugs. Found pieces will be juxtaposed freely with modern details and lighting.
The new store will be guided under the experienced leadership of Joel Ellzey, who was recently selected as the location's General Manager. Ellzey joined the Sarasota team after spending one year leading the Saks Fifth Avenue Tampa store as General Manager. He previously served as Group Manager for Saks Fifth Avenue Atlanta.
Saks Fifth Avenue presently operates a store at Westfield Southgate that will close when the new store at The Mall at University Town Center opens.
