Netflix to Act as Exclusive Host for "The Killing"

Netflix fired another round in the content wars this morning, announcing an exclusive deal to bring season three of crime drama The Killing to members in the U.S. and Canada three months after the finale airs on AMC Networks .

Seasons one and two are already available for streaming in the U.S., Netflix said. The other 40 countries where the service exists will get access to new episodes "over the next few months," and before the season three premiere airs, the company said.

AMC has brokered similar deals with Netflix for airing episodes of the zombie thriller The Walking Dead, and another crime drama, Breaking Bad. This time, News Corp. unit Fox Television, which co-produces The Killing, took the lead.

"Our agreement with Netflix played an extremely significant part in the studio's strategy that enabled us to bring The Killing back for a third season," Fox TV president David Madden said in a press release.
