Blake has served as CEO of ARCADIS US for 16 years, has been a member of the ARCADIS executive board for eight years and has worked for ARCADIS for a total of 26 years. During his tenure, ARCADIS US grew its revenue five times, while improving bottom line performance ten times. Blake was instrumental in the integration of a number of large mergers, notably with the environmental firm BBL in 2005 and with water consulting and engineering company Malcolm Pirnie in 2009. Both additions have contributed significantly to the company's growth. In addition, he successfully managed many other acquisitions that enhanced or added service lines which aided in the ARCADIS expansion. As an Executive Board member he oversaw the Global Business Line (GBL) Environment; GBL Water; Global Health and Safety and supported RTKL in their transition to be part of the ARCADIS family.

Effective June 1, 2013, ARCADIS COO Gary Coates will succeed Blake as CEO for ARCADIS US while retaining his current position. Zack Smith, chief strategy officer for ARCADIS US, has been nominated for appointment to assume Blake's post on the ARCADIS executive board. Once approved by shareholders, which is expected, Smith will assume responsibility for Latin America. Smith is currently member of the board of ARCADIS Logos in Brazil.
