Centier Bank Improves Banking Security with Mobile-based Card On/Off Support

New mobile functionality provides customers greater security, control over card accounts

PADUCAH, Ky.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- In an effort to increase mobile adoption and enhance customers' security options, Merrillville, Ind.-based Centier Bank has implemented new mobile banking functionality from Computer Services, Inc. (CSI) (OTCQX: CSVI) to allow its customers to better manage debit cards from their mobile devices. CSI's newest mobile application enhancement, referred to as Card On/Off, allows users to manually enable or disable the use of their debit card within the bank's mobile app in the event the card is lost or stolen.

The new Card On/Off functionality integrates with CSI's standard mobile app capabilities, including bill pay and account transfers, to provide customers with added card management and security features within a single program. Should a customer's card be misplaced, users simply toggle a switch in the app to disable the card and can also conveniently re-activate the card through the app should it be found. By allowing customers to immediately deactivate misplaced debit cards, the functionality offers an intermediary step before notifying the bank to cancel the card, which enhances security and reduces potential card misuse.

As the first core processor to offer such functionality, CSI caught the attention of Centier Bank executives looking to provide customers with added security against card fraud and greater control via the mobile app.

"For as long as debit cards have been around, banks and bank customers alike have consistently focused on protecting themselves by adequately managing potential fraud," said Bob Buhle, senior partner at Centier Bank. "With the introduction of CSI's Card On/Off functionality, we are giving our mobile customers an extra layer of protection that they can fully control themselves. This functionality allows them to respond quickly to a potentially lost or stolen card, significantly reducing the possibility of fraudulent transactions and other inconveniences."

In addition to the multiple card management efficiencies the new functionality provides mobile customers, Centier Bank also noted Card On/Off's impact on the mobile app as a whole, providing the entire application with an added layer of security and protection.

"As instances of card fraud and theft have continued to be an issue for our customers, we saw an unmet need for greater protection and capabilities in regard to card management," said Steve Powless, chief executive officer of CSI. "Through the introduction of the Card On/Off functionality into our existing mobile app solution, we continue to focus on meeting the changing needs of customers like Centier Bank by providing them with unique features to satisfy their customers and ensure lasting relationships."
