Fay to examine the top 5 trends that will impact the supply chain in 2013

PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Avnet, Inc. (NYSE:AVT), a leading global technology distributor, today announced that Gerry Fay, chief global logistics and operations officer of Avnet, Inc., will speak at the Manufacturing Supply Chain Officer Summit 2013 (MSCO'13) in Shanghai, China. His presentation will take place on March 21, at 1:30 p.m.

"Manufacturers are demanding a greater degree of visibility into key supply chain data from their trading partner ecosystem," said Fay. "Increased visibility helps companies better manage risks throughout their global supply chains. During the conference, I will share the top trends impacting the supply chain. We will also examine how companies are utilizing collaborative business practices to quickly reduce risk."

Fay's session is titled, "Top 5 Supply Chain Trends Impacting the Electronics Ecosystem," and will explore 2013 and beyond. He will discuss some key trends that will heavily influence the electronics ecosystem and its players: from component manufacturers up through to the OEM brand owner. Fay will predict the top five of these trends, examining how these predictions will be realized, who will be impacted and how this might change the game from the products being designed to the products being delivered.

The MSCO'13 will bring together over 350 supply chain leaders from 20+ countries, to debate, discuss and respond to the crucial issues on the MSCO agenda. Featuring over 40 speakers, the international industry gathering will deliver insightful and informative plenary sessions featuring the world's leading supply chain experts, all grappling with pivotal problems, and keen to learn from each other.

Fay joined Avnet in 2005 when the company acquired electronic component distributor Memec. During that time he was senior vice president of global strategic accounts for Avnet United. In that role, Fay led the expansion of key account programs designed to provide global support services to customers. He also created Avnet Velocity, Avnet's global supply chain solutions business which helps customers plan, manage and operate complex supply chains. As chief global logistics and operations officer, Fay is currently responsible for global warehousing, semiconductor programming, computer integration center services and operations, value-add assembly operations, global trade compliance and enterprise-wide risk mitigation. Fay continues to lead Avnet Velocity in his current role to drive supply chain thought leadership across the electronic equipment ecosystem.
