Executive Shakeup at Barclays

Updated

Just a day after international banking giant Barclays PLC tapped a new Chief Operations and Technology Officer, reports coming out this afternoon say the head of Barclays wealth-management in the Americas is on his way out. A Wall Street Journal report today said that Mitch Cox, who rose to his most recent position in 2009, stepped down today to pursue other interests.

As for Shaygan Kheradpir, the newly appointed Chief Operations and Technology Officer, he was praised by the Group's Chief Executive, Antony Jenkins. "Shaygan has been instrumental in helping devise and drive technology solutions and operational improvements" at the company, the CEO said.

Shaygan, a former Verizon employee, said he looks forward to "delivering world class and innovative processes and systems focused on creating a 'Go-To' customer and client experience." Technological innovation and automation are two priorities the company emphasized in Barclays' Strategic Review last month.
