This land is your land, and the rest of it belongs to Matt Drudge -- at least in South Florida. The Internet media kingpin and creator of The Drudge Report has bulked up his compound south of Miami to a fortress-like 10 acres after purchasing a 4.7-acre lot and the 4,600-square-foot house that came with it. According to The Miami Herald, Drudge paid $700,000 in January for the property in the Redland neighborhood just south of Miami. The property had been listed for as much as $950,000 in 2012, when it was being marketed for its development potential.

Apparently, Drudge, who has been notoriously living a semi-secretive life out of the spotlight, wanted to expand his secluded estate instead of watch another buyer install an in-ground pool, horse stables or some of the other suggested uses for the large lot. The good news for Drudge: His new property came with organic fruit trees. In August 2011, Drudge bought his five-bedroom, 6,500-square-foot home (photos in slideshow below) for $1.45 million. This is where Drudge is said to communicate selectively with some of the conservative movement's most notable players, including Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter.

While he may be out of sight -- and now ensconced on a much larger property -- Drudge is hardly out of mind. The Drudge Report, a news aggregation site that also breaks news and enjoys an endless debate about its place in the political/media pantheon, continues to be an influence. Most recently, Drudge was one of the last conservative media outlets to push a story about how veteran journalist Bob Woodward had allegedly been dogged by the White House for his critique of the Obama administration.
