NextEra Named World's Most Admired Utility for 7th Straight Year

Fortune MagazinenamedNextEra Energy as the leader in electric and gas utilities for its 2013 "World's Most Admired Companies" list. This marks the seventh consecutive year that NextEra has claimed the No. 1 spot, an unprecedented feat for its sector.

In a statement today, President and CEO Jim Robo said:

Attaining and sustaining the level of performance required to achieve this recognition for seven straight years is a testament to the engagement and productivity of our 15,000 talented employees. They're delivering excellence every day to our customers and other stakeholders, and I'm proud to be heading up such a terrific team.

The utility led its industry in the categories of innovation, social responsibility, quality, and global competitiveness. It lagged to third place in people management, use of corporate assets, financial soundness, and long-term investment.


Dominion Energy came in second place on Fortune's list, while Southern took third.
