Missouri American Water Acquires Meramec Sewer Company

Acquisition adds approximately 540 new customers in St. Louis County

ST. LOUIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Missouri American Water has acquired the Meramec Sewer Company, serving customers in Fenton, Mo. The system adds about 540 new wastewater customers to the company's customer base. The Missouri Public Service Commission (MoPSC) approved the application for ownership on February 20, 2013.


Most of the new customers currently receive their water service from Missouri American Water.

"The acquisition of this system gives these customers access to full-time wastewater professionals and customer service that is available 24/7," said Tena Hale-Rush, Wastewater Operations Manager.

Missouri American Water will be providing information to customers by mail.

The system was purchased for approximately $500,000.
