Greenway Customer to Demonstrate Integrated Blue Button Capability at HIMSS13

PrimePATIENT Portal Advances Consumerism, Meets Meaningful Use Stage 2 Goals of Increased Data Liquidity and Access

CARROLLTON, Ga.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Greenway Medical Technologies, Inc., which delivers innovative software and business service solutions for healthcare providers through its PrimeSUITE® platform, announced today that customer Pediatric Associates, Bellevue, WA, will demonstrate the integrated Blue Button capabilities of Greenway's PrimePATIENT® secure web portal at the HIMSS13 Annual Conference & Exhibition in New Orleans. The demonstration will occur as part of the HIMSS Interoperability Showcase March 4-6 at the invitation of the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC).

Blue Button, originally developed by the U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs, has become a universal symbol for the advancement of consumer healthcare data access and engagement, enabling consumers to easily access their health data on demand and become more actively engaged in their own health management. ONC adapted the program as the Auto Blue Button Initiative to advance the access of readable, secure health data through widespread electronic health record (EHR) adoption to increased patient populations, and has debuted expanded functionality requirements as the "Blue Button+" innovation.

"Greenway's integrated patient portal provides a seamless entry point for Blue Button+ as a standard for expanded data liquidity," said Greenway® President and Chief Executive Officer Tee Green. "It's important for the advancement of healthcare that patients can access, understand and share their health history. We're proud to have our customer and solution be included in this ONC-driven demonstration, and will continue to collaborate on best practices that impact care coordination and facilitate the engagement of patients as healthcare consumers."

Supports Meaningful Use Stage 2 Goals, Enables Direct Exchange of Patient Summary CCD

PrimePATIENT is the integrated consumer web portal of the PrimeSUITE electronic health record, practice management and interoperability solution. Greenway PrimeSUITE 2014 (17.0) has been certified to be a Complete EHR compliant with ONC 2014 Edition criteria that support both stage 1 and 2 meaningful use measures to qualify for federal incentive funding. Among the stage 2 measures are the ability for patients to be able to view, download and transmit their health information. The PrimeSUITE solution platform supports multiple data formats to streamline information exchange through secure destinations adhering to ONC standards. This allows such elements as medications and lab results to be downloaded via Blue Button through the patient portal, and integrated with a patient's personal health record (PHR), sharable at the patient's discretion.

Pediatric Associates, an over 80-provider, seven-location group practice based in Bellevue, will demonstrate these capabilities at HIMSS13 with the direct transport of a standards-based Continuity of Care Document (CCD) patient summary from PrimePATIENT to an established third-party destination. The inclusion of Blue Button+ with the Greenway portal enables the sending of updates from the portal to a third-party application, such as a PHR, when a patient's clinical summary is updated through its origination in a PrimeSUITE patient record.

"Blue Button+ is a blueprint for providing access to structured and secure health information to developers that build on the view, download and transmit requirements of Meaningful Use Stage 2," said Farzad Mostashari, MD, the national coordinator for health IT. "We are looking forward to the efforts of Pediatric Associates and other leading providers who will be demonstrating the functionality in our interoperability showcase at HIMSS."

Greenway was recognized as an early adopter of the Blue Button initiative during the September 2012 Consumer Health IT Summit in Washington, DC. The company plans to take part in the ongoing collaborative process of implementing more Blue Button+ standards as further phases continue to encourage data exchange across EHR systems and extend care coordination within communities of health.
