IPC The Hospitalist Company Announces 2012 Hospitalists of the Year
NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- IPC The Hospitalist Company, Inc. (NAS: IPCM) , a leading national physician group practice company, today announced the recipients for its Hospitalists of the Year for 2012. The three award recipients are:
Judy Shumway, D.O., was awarded Hospitalist of the Year for an acute care practice. Dr. Shumway is a Practice Group Leader and Regional Medical Director for IPC's San Antonio, Texas Region. An IPC hospitalist since 2007, Dr. Shumway has been instrumental in creating an outstanding hospitalist program at Methodist Stone Oak Hospital. Dr. Shumway is a 2011 graduate of the IPC-UCSF Fellowship Program for Hospitalist Leaders. She is also a member of the HCA National Hospitalist Physician Advisory Group.
Rafael Rondon, M.D., was awarded Hospitalist of the Year for a post-acute care practice. Dr. Rondon is a Practice Group Leader in IPC's Tampa, Florida Region. An IPC hospitalist since 2008, Dr. Rondon has provided leadership and expertise in establishing a significant presence for IPC in post-acute care in the Tampa area. Dr. Rondon is currently enrolled in the IPC-UCSF Fellowship Program for Hospitalist Leaders, which he expects to complete in November 2013.
Ty Montgomery, FN-C, was awarded Hospitalist of the Year for a non-physician provider. Mr. Montgomery is a Nurse Practitioner and a Practice Group Representative for IPC in the Phoenix, Arizona Region. Mr. Montgomery has made important inroads in establishing a hospitalist presence in skilled nursing facilities in rural areas of northern Arizona such as Apache Nation in Show Low.
IPC's annual awards program recognizes those hospitalists who have made outstanding contributions to the Company, to their facility and to the patients they serve, both in acute care and post-acute care facility settings. Selected by IPC's senior management team, the award includes an honorarium to each of the three award recipients. Additionally, IPC will make a $2,500 donation to the charity of their choice for each of the recipients. The donation is made on behalf of IPC as well as the facility where the recipient serves.
