ITG-3200 and MPU-9150 motion sensors embedded inside of basketballs

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- InvenSense, Inc. (NYS: INVN) , the leading provider of MotionTracking devices, and InfoMotion Sports Technologies, the world's leader for sports products that quantify and digitize athletic skills requiring high levels of muscle memory, announced that InvenSense's ITG-3200 and MPU-9150 devices are enabling InfoMotion's 94Fifty sensor basketball skill analysis products. The first in class "Total Skill Measurement" product incorporates an InvenSense 3-axis ITG-3200 gyroscope, into a regulation size and weight basketball. The ball is designed to wirelessly provide coaches and players the ability to instantly review the performance characteristics of any player at any skill level providing real time feedback on their computer or smartphone.

InfoMotion will unveil a second product designed for consumers in March, with plans to begin shipping in the 3rd quarter of 2013. The 94Fifty consumer version utilizes the InvenSense MPU-9150, a nine-axis (gyroscope/accelerometer/compass) device including the industry's only Digital Motion Processor on chip. The ball will give players across the globe access to some of the most sophisticated training information and feedback to improve important muscle memory skills, such as shooting and ball-handling, more efficiently and effectively.

"InvenSense MotionTracking devices deliver the performance and reliability needed to enable a whole new class of MEMS-enabled sports equipment such as the 94Fifty basketball," said Ali Foughi, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at InvenSense. "We are excited to see 94Fifty's sophisticated basketball solutions released to market, and we anticipate strong growth in the coming years for other motion-based sports equipment, wearable sensors and health management products. We are executing to our strategy of expanding our market reach to include new and emerging products."

"InfoMotion's flagship product, 94Fifty motion sensor basketball, has been used on all levels of the sport and has been featured on ESPN's 'Sports Science' segment demonstrating the data this solution can deliver to coaches and players to help them improve," said Michael Crowley, InfoMotion Sports Technologies, Founder and CEO. "By combining high-performance, InvenSense motion sensors with our activity recognition algorithms, we can evaluate data that correlates to key skills that are highly linked to success in sports that require a high degree of muscle memory like basketball and soccer to automate what the ball can measure."

The new 94Fifty solutions are the first of a new breed of sensor-enabled athletic equipment. For additional information please visit our website at www.invensense.com or contact InvenSense Sales at sales@invensense.com.
